BOYD, TOMMY

Tommy Boyd is best known for his very tasteful resonator guitar and banjo playing and harmony work with Larry Sparks from the mid 1970s into the early 1980s. He appeared on some of Larry’s best LPs on King Bluegrass, County, Lesco, Rebel, Acoustic Revival, and June Apple. He played on sessions around the Dayton, Columbus, and Cincinnati areas with Mac Wiseman, the Allen Brothers, Jack Casey, and others. After disappearing from high visibility for several years to pursue a financial career in Chicago, he resurfaced in the mid 2000s as banjoist with the Dry Branch Fire Squad and was still with them in 2016.
