GODBEY, FRANK

Frank Godbey was a computer programmer/analyst at the University of Kentucky in Lexington before retiring in 2004. He used his computer skills to start BGRASS-L, a bluegrass music discussion listserv, in 1991. He has remained the moderator since its inception. He reviewed records for Bluegrass Unlimited for almost 25 years, beginning in 1972 and also indexed the first twenty years of Bluegrass Unlimited. He played bass with John Hickman and others in Columbus in the mid 1960s, mandolin on albums with the Boys From Indiana and Charlie Moore, and banjo on a Larry Rice album. He was selected as Print Media Person of the Year in 1995 by the IBMA. In 2016, he was playing mandolin with a Lexington group, Southland Drive, that has issued one CD.
