Ground Round (Restaurant Chain)
This chain presented itself as a neighborhood pub and family restaurant. It was noted for its casual atmosphere, which included peeling peanuts and throwing the shells on the floor. Its locations featured a rotating succession of local bluegrass bands on weekends during the 1970s and 1980s. In the Dayton area there was a Ground Round at 2900 Wilmington Pike and one at 8240 Springboro Pike near the Dayton Mall. The Cincinnati area had Ground Rounds at 8060 Beechmont Avenue, 161 Northland Boulevard in Springdale, and 7687 Mall Road in Florence, Kentucky. Muddy River, Wheat Straw, and the Allen Brothers were some of the bands that played these venues in the Dayton area.
