Gene Higgins was a contemporary of Red Allen. He secured “You Will Always Be Untrue” for the Red Heads. He and Red Allen are shown as co-authors on the record, although it was apparently written by someone else. Gene played the bars around Dayton as Gene Higgins and the Bluegrass Challengers and also as Gene Higgins and the Challengers. He recorded a single on Jalyn with Red Horn and two singles under his own name on Jalyn, with David Harvey receiving label credit for helping out.
