HOWARD, REV. CARL I. (c.1935-2011)

Rev. Carl Howard was born in Kentucky and was the pastor of the West Seventh Street First Church of God in Newport, Kentucky, a church which he and his wife Mary founded in 1967. He was also a guitar player and singer and played bluegrass gospel music in his church and on the road for many years. He played at churches and family reunions around the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area, as well as cemetery meetings, funerals, churches, and reunions in his original home area of Jackson, Hindman, and Harlan Counties, in Kentucky. Groups he has fronted playing lead guitar and singing lead include The Kentucky Gospel Trio and The Kentucky Bluegrass Gospel Singers.
