SLOAS, DAVID “DAVE”

Dave Sloas lived in Fairborn while he was working at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He played guitar and worked in the Sloas Brothers Band with his brothers Kenny and John. He also cut a single on Karbro Records in Fairborn with Forest Pelfrey and the Bluegrass Six. Dave’s son David Ray Sloas played with his dad and uncles in the Sloas Brothers Band and also organized a country band in Fairborn called The Country Showmen, which included his brother Jimmy Lee. Dave (the son) eventually went on to play lead guitar with Tammy Wynette and with Aaron Tippin. His brother, Jimmy Lee Sloas, went to Nashville and became a session player, producer, and songwriter, and in 2013 was named the ACM Bass Player of the Year.
