WERNER, ARTIE

Artie Werner grew up in West Portsmouth and began playing the bass at age thirteen. Early on he played with Earl Taylor and later with Vernon McIntyre. He moved to Florida and worked with Jimmy Fee in the Country Bear Jamboree at Disney World. After returning to Cincinnati, he met and married Missy Maggard in 1990. They formed a band called Next In Line, which eventually became the Missy Werner Band (in 2016, they are one of the top bands in the Cincinnati area). He also plays with the Comet Bluegrass All-Stars and Them There Mountain Boys.
